So often I see fine, non-problematic titles being replaced with a non-descriptive mess. Important/valuable information gets removed for the sake of being changed, and I end up thinking "who thought this edit would be a good idea?" so often.
For example, this video:
"BETA SQUAD MAFIA GAME FT DEJI (CHILLI FORFEIT)"
gets changed to:
"Mafia E11"
whereas a better title would be:
"Beta Squad: Mafia E11 ft. Deji"
Here's another stupid change on a video from Techquickie:
Original: "Why do speakers hiss?"
Replaced: "speaker Noise: Hiss and Hum"
I try using the voting feature to downvote the awful new titles / I try to submit my own but I have no idea if it does anything as I never see anything change. The thumbs up/down emoji does a twirl and there's no indication if it did anything or what it does. This panel really needs some improvement.Antwort des Entwicklers

- Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon 4color, vor 2 MonatenI love the extension. I don't like the paywall (I know the wall is paper-thin, but still).
- Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon Firefox-Benutzer 17635639, vor 4 MonatenIn Korea, there are a lot of fake video titles, almost all of which are different from the main content (especially news), but these extension don't change anything.
Honestly, if you were to filter out Korean videos that routinely lure users with more than 100 fake titles per minute, this extension would probably be installed by default on all browsers in Korea lol - Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon Micca, vor 4 MonatenReally cool add-on but it consistently makes youtube load slower, and sometimes not at all. Hopefully server side stuff gets solved soon.
- Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon nvlsti, vor 4 MonatenHave been using for some time in Chrome on my work PC, now trying out also on Firefox at home. I actually really like how the add-on works. I see no slow-downs or glitches.
Some people are commenting that the descriptive titles tend to "spoil" the video but in my opinion this is exactly the point. You can always switch off the default replacements and then you only see the "dearrowed" description after clicking on the blue button.
The one issue I have is that since actual work of replacing clickbaits with descriptions is crowsourced, this extension needs more people using it. And I think for many people the short free trial is off-putting and they won't even bother to click "I don't want to pay" before uninstalling the whole thing. (I paid btw)
I think it would be glorious if the DeArrow functionality was eventually included in SponsorBlock which has a much bigger user base. - Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon pyzor, vor 5 MonatenEND clickbait. Pair with SponsorBlock extension. Spare others the agony of clickbait. Apply business professional english to titles. Replace lame clickbait load frames. Everyone who matters wins. Continue to block youtube ads with privoxy, a loopback proxy for firefox.
Unfortunately this extension requires purchase. - Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon Firefox-Benutzer 18192038, vor 5 Monatenhas a tendency to replace video titles with content descriptions, which, while good, does spoil the twist of the video in some cases (see hbomberguy's robloxoof.mp3 video) and can end up removing thumbnail art that is more of a title card than clickbait.
biggest suggestion would be to allow for a setting to remove clickbait while allowing actual titles to stay, but then you're asking a democratic userbase to deal with nuance sooo
overall ok first impression, good job Ajay Ramachandran.
edit: tbh, it's more funny than annoying to meAntwort des Entwicklers
geschrieben am vor 5 MonatenI recommend using "Default to original details" in the extension settings for your preferences - Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon ibkindness, vor 8 Monaten
- Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon Fox Bally, vor 8 MonatenIt's a good extension. Was able to snag the pre-paywall beta on Firefox just in time. However, on my Chrome, i was too late. I requested free access and will wait until next time when i come around to it again. But it does give me more incentive to stay on the all-privacy Firefox, where i went to after Google's announcement of ManifestV3.

geschrieben am vor 8 MonatenJust so you know, you can use keys on unlimited devices/browsers. You can view your license key in the options or popup.
But staying on Firefox is a very good option anyway :) - Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon Firefox-Benutzer 14161687, vor 9 Monaten
- Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon z3roa1m, vor 9 MonatenFound out about this addon after SponsorBlock prompted me about it.
A great addition to the """Youtube Fix""" bundle (RYD and SponsorBlock).
Seriously, browsing Youtube is so much nicer with this installed, no longer being fished into watching useless commentary videos/drama.
P.S: I completely wiped my previous install (got a remote access trojan that i couldn't delete, thought the extension would remember me from my youtube account details), huge thanks for the key 🫡)
P.P.S also paywalling an open-source extension isn't such a good (and an effective) idea, but i get that making stuff for free out of pure enthusiasm can only go so far.Antwort des Entwicklers
geschrieben am vor 9 MonatenYou can copy the license key from a previous install, or email me to get a code if you didn't know to or forgot
Use this FcxeV-ea448 - Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon Gersonzao, vor 9 MonatenExtremely useful piece of software, I wish you could see the original thumbnail/title by just hovering over the button for a user-determined amount of time

geschrieben am vor 9 MonatenGood idea, I made an issue for this https://github.com/ajayyy/DeArrow/issues/140 - Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon yoda, vor 10 MonatenI like the idea, but thumbnails appear blank half the time (despite selecting show random screenshot in settings + I have fast internet). In the meantime, I'm using clickbait remover add-on for thumbnails and this for titles.

geschrieben am vor 10 MonatenThis was a due to a server outage, and a bug preventing it from using the backup server properly when the main server is down.
Server is back so it should be good now, and I'll fix that bug so it doesn't completely break for other server outages in the future - Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon ds, vor 10 Monatenit's great but when i open youtube video it's lag unit somthing happen which i suspect is loading recomnded video thumbnail i have i laptop with 16 gigabyte of ram i think that could be the reson for this lags
- Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon showers, vor 10 MonatenI absolutely love this addon and the concept behind it, but unfortunately, it seems to be very resource-intensive, causing my videos to chug along and lag for the first few seconds while it attempts to load many thumbnails, on top of causing all thumbnails to load slowly...

geschrieben am vor 10 MonatenThe thumbnail generation service I'm running has gone down to due a storage issue, so it is falling back to local generation, which is probably causing those issues. I'll look into making the local generation work better in the future when outages happen. - Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon Dark Moyan, vor einem JahrI never knew I need this but now I really need this. I just hope you will add Original vs custom/random thumbnail so we could see the original and the random one.

geschrieben am vor einem JahrOf you hover the title, there is a button to swap. You can make it always appear in the options - Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon Throwawayaccount, vor einem JahrThis addon most definitely has potential! I find that video's have started buffering... if i click at the video bar on the right I see the video tiles slowly appear. Either way I will keep trying this addon and if the buffering gets bad put it on the sideline and check back on it. Either way 4/5 stars buds! Nice job!
Edit: Thanks for the update! I do understand that it is in a 'Alpha/Beta' stage. I made an account just to give a 'Bug' or 'RFC' or 'Feedback' and once gain thank you for your effort!Antwort des Entwicklers
geschrieben am vor einem JahrEdit: the update to fix this has been released
Still working out some issues, so I haven't released it yet, but the next update should help fix this by switching how the thumbnails are rendered on the page (By using Image elements instead of Canvas elements) - Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon display name, vor einem JahrGreat idea. Though I am surprised that Tom Scott's channel was picked as a demonstration, as he is not a particularly bad offender in this respect, to the point where I personally do not mind having his original thumbnails and titles.
If you're aiming at something clickbaity, yet still informative enough to be worth spending time on redacting, maybe show, I dunno, LegalEagle? TLDR News? Linus Tech Tips? Karl Jobst?Antwort des Entwicklers
geschrieben am vor einem JahrVery recently, Tom Scott and CGP Grey have started going through their entire backlog and changing titles and thumbnails to be more attention grabbing and vague. Channels doing things like this are a heavy inspiration for this extension.
It's not just the Linus Tech Tips or the Mr Beasts of the world doing algorithm optimized titles and thumbnails now. Even really great channels like Tom Scott, CGP Grey, and Kurzgesagt are falling for the trap now.
And I don't blame them! That's what's needed to survive on the platform these days. It's a race to the bottom.
DeArrow hopes to solve this. DeArrow puts everyone on a level playing field. There is no race to the bottom since no one is allowed to be algorithmically optimized. It pauses the race, and let's the true best videos rise to the top. - Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon Zack Bowden, vor einem Jahr
